NEW LIGNUM

Newlignum is an objects and furniture line made from a versatile, functional, and biodegradable substitute to the current synthetic particleboards or similar wood products like fiberboards. This series results from a six-month research and an ongoing exploration into the topic of innovation with biomaterials. The line consists of two different material combinations of recycled wood fibres (a waste product from Design Academy Eindhoven’s workshop) with a plant-based and a protein-based biopolymer that functions as a binder.

We are pushing the boundaries towards more sustainable alternatives in industrial production. We consider the current alternatives to better manage environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle without disregarding how valuable it is for us to design while emphasizing contemporary aesthetics.
